NEAL EDELSTEIN most recently served as a producer on David Lynch's award-winning film "Mulholland Drive," starring Naomi Watts.
A native of Winnetka, Illinois, Edelstein earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, with an emphasis on film studies, from the University of Arizona in 1992. He moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film production. In 1997, David Lynch asked Edelstein to serve as a producer on "Lumiere et Compagnie," a collection of shorts from 40 international directors, including Lynch. Following the completion of that project, Edelstein and Lynch partnered with Mary Sweeney to form The Picture Factory. Under that banner, Edelstein and Sweeney produced Lynch's acclaimed film "The Straight Story," which earned a Best Picture nomination at the Independent Spirit Awards.
Edelstein has more recently partnered with "The Ring" executive producer Mike Macari to form Macari-Edelstein Entertainment. They are currently in development on several feature film projects, including "Manila Bay," "No Place Like Home" and "The Big Blow," which they are producing with Ridley Scott. They are also producing a television pilot to be directed by the Hughes brothers, which marks Macari-Edelstein's first foray into television.
