ROY LEE counts "The Ring" as his first producing credit. He has since set up a number of other film projects at DreamWorks and other studios that are currently in different stages of development. In addition to developing original ideas and scripts, Lee has successfully imported films from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Indonesia to be remade in the United States. These include remakes of the Japanese films "Dark Water" and "Chaos," both of which were directed by Hideo Nakata, the director of the original Japanese version of "The Ring," and a remake of the Korean smash hit, "Sassy Girl," to be produced with Madonna's Maverick Films for DreamWorks. Together with partner Doug Davison, Lee heads up Vertigo Entertainment, which has a first look deal with Dimension Films.
Lee earned a Bachelors degree from George Washington University and a law degree from The American University, before moving from Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the film industry. His first job was with the production company Alphaville, where he worked on films such as "The Mummy," "The Jackal" and "Michael." After working under the producers of Alphaville, he set out on his own as an independent producer.
