JULIE WEISS has been recognized for her work on the stage, screen and television. She was recently honored by her peers with the Costume Designers Guild Award for her work on the Academy Award¨-winning Best Picture "American Beauty." She had earlier earned an Oscar¨ nomination for Best Costumes for her designs in Terry Gilliam's "12 Monkeys." Weiss' costume designs will next be seen in Julie Taymor's upcoming film "Frida," starring Salma Hayek. Her previous film credits include "Hearts in Atlantis," "A Simple Plan," "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," "Touch," "Marvin's Room," "It Could Happen to You," "Searching for Bobby Fischer," "Honeymoon in Vegas," "Steel Magnolias," "Tequila Sunrise," "F/X," "The Mean Season," "Testament," "I'm Dancing As Fast As I Can" and Bette Davis' wardrobe in "The Whales of August."

For television, Weiss won Emmy Awards for the miniseries "A Woman of Independent Means" and for the telefilm "The Dollmaker." She garnered four additional Emmy nominations for her work on "Evergreen," "Little Gloria, Happy at Last," "Liza Minnelli Live at Radio City Music Hall" and "The Elephant Man."

Weiss had earlier received a Tony Award nomination for her costumes for the Broadway production of "The Elephant Man." Her other stage work includes the Broadway musical "Piaf."
